HÉCTOR OSTOS

Born in Venezuela, but blessed with a Mexican heart, Hector Ostos began experimenting with large-format painting at a very young age. He had his first solo exhibition at the age of 17 and has since participated in various art collectives.

By experimenting with the interaction of different techniques and textures, he has discovered new ways of expression. He prefers wood as a base to experiment with different materials such as acrylic, ceramics, feathers, fabrics, stones, and metals. In recent years, he has brought his abstraction and figurativism to ceramics, creating pieces that combine anatomy, nature, and Latin American iconography.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

As an artist who works with mixed media techniques, I strive to create distinctive and expressive pieces that are visually striking and emotionally compelling. My art is characterized by a blending of abstract and figurative elements, with a focus on exploring themes related to nature, insects, bones, anatomy…

My use of color and texture is central to my artistic practice, as these elements imbue my work with a sense of energy and vitality. Whether I am painting on canvas or wood, or glazing and sculpting ceramics, I am continually experimenting, with a deep appreciation for the natural world and the intricate beauty that can be found within it.

Through my art, I hope to inspire others to see the world around them with fresh eyes and appreciate the complexity of the human experience. My art invites the audience to experience the world through my own lens, and think about it in new ways.
